India produced a remarkable gold-medal sweep in compound archery at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, winning the men’s team, women’s team and mixed team events on Wednesday.
The women’s compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep defeated China 238-234 in the final to retain the gold medal India had won at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The Indian trio had earlier edged past South Korea 234-233 in a closely fought semifinal. The final victory also saw India match the world-record score of 238 set by South Korea in 2014.
Chikitha and Sahil clinch thrilling mixed team gold
India added another gold in the compound mixed team event as Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav defeated South Korea in a dramatic shoot-off.
The final was tied 157-157 after four series, forcing the match into a shoot-off. The Indian pair held their nerve to secure gold and also earned a quota place for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where compound archery is set to make its Olympic debut in the mixed team event.
Men’s team completes India’s golden sweep
The Indian men’s compound team of Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal and Ganesh Mani Ratnam completed the clean sweep by defeating China 238-237 in the final.
The one-point victory capped a memorable day for Indian compound archery, with the country collecting gold in all three team categories.
Jyothi continues her Asian Games medal streak
The women’s team triumph also extended Jyothi Surekha Vennam’s remarkable record at the Asian Games. She has been part of India’s medal-winning women’s compound team at every edition of the event since its introduction in 2014.
India won bronze in 2014, silver in 2018 and gold in both 2023 and 2026.
The three compound team golds further strengthened India’s medal tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Games and underlined the country’s continued success in compound archery at the continental level.
