In a shocking incident of mob violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, Sachin Raghav, the district president of the Kshatriya Yuva Karni Sena, was brutally attacked by an angry crowd of around a hundred youths. The incident took place on Wednesday evening in the Civil Lines area near Ghantaghar. Raghav was eating street food with his younger brother Sundar and a friend, Prahlad, when the mob suddenly surrounded them. Chanting ‘Jai Bhim’, the attackers relentlessly thrashed the trio with belts, kicks, and punches. Despite Raghav pleading for mercy with folded hands, the violence continued, leaving him and his companions severely injured.
Following the initial assault on the street, the enraged mob dragged Raghav into the nearby Dr. Ambedkar Park. There, the attackers forced him to chant slogans honoring the Valmiki community and the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The root cause of this violent outburst stems from a highly controversial speech delivered by Raghav’s brother, Sundar, during a ‘Savarna Samaj’ gathering the previous day. A video of the speech, which went wildly viral on social media, showed Sundar making objectionable and derogatory remarks regarding the societal roles of different castes. These comments deeply offended the sentiments of the Valmiki community, ultimately triggering the retaliatory mob attack.
As soon as the authorities were alerted about the escalating violence, a heavy police deployment rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to flee. The police immediately rescued the bloodied victims and admitted them to the district hospital for medical treatment and formal examination. Circle Officer (CO) Sarvam Singh confirmed that an FIR has been officially registered based on the complaint filed by Sachin Raghav.
Law enforcement officials are now meticulously analyzing viral videos of the brawl and scanning local CCTV footage to identify the culprits. The administration has heavily condemned the violence, assuring the public that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who took the law into their own hands.
