The sensational murder investigation of transporter Asghar Ali in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has taken a shocking turn. The police are facing a major investigative hurdle as crucial CCTV footage from the Korai Toll Plaza—which could have provided vital clues—has mysteriously gone missing.
On the midnight of April 4, Asghar Ali, a resident of Mewati Gali in Shahganj, was brutally crushed to death by a speeding car. While the police initially registered the incident as a fatal road accident, it was later escalated to a murder investigation based on emerging evidence and strong complaints from the victim’s family.
The police have already filed a charge sheet against one of the primary accused, Ravi Yadav. However, Ali’s family alleges a much deeper conspiracy, suspecting the involvement of influential individuals, including a female GST officer and her husband, who is a senior official in the municipal corporation. Recently, accused Ravi Yadav approached the court to question the ongoing police probe. Recognizing the gravity and sensitivity of the matter, the court directed the police to conduct a thorough, impartial, and advanced investigation encompassing all key facts.
Following the court’s directives, police visited the Korai Toll Plaza to retrieve CCTV footage to identify any other occupants inside the vehicle during the crime. In a surprising twist, toll employees claimed the live video footage was unavailable, handing over only scanned images of the car’s number plate. The absence of this critical video evidence makes it incredibly difficult for investigators to determine how many people were actually inside the car that night, deepening suspicions of a larger cover-up.
Despite this setback, the police investigation remains active. Providing an update, ACP Gaurav Singh stated that there are several other CCTV cameras installed along the highway route. Special police teams are now diligently scanning the footage from these alternative locations. Any relevant video evidence recovered from the surrounding cameras will be immediately included in the probe to uncover the complete truth behind Asghar Ali’s murder.
