Tragic Accident in Azamgarh: Speeding Car Returning from Ganesh Pandal Crashes, 3 Dead and 6 Injured

A devastating road accident early Tuesday morning in the Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh has left the region in shock. A speeding Swift car lost control and violently crashed into a roadside tree near Jagdishpur village in the Phulpur Kotwali area. The massive impact of the collision left three young men dead and six others critically injured.

Festive Joy Turns to Mourning

According to Circle Officer (CO) Kiran Pal Singh, nine youths were traveling in a Punjab-registered car from Phulpur toward Sarai Mir. The group had been enthusiastically participating in Ganesh Mahotsav festivities and had stayed awake all night at a pandal. The tragic accident occurred around 4:30 AM while they were exhausted and heading back. The news of the crash instantly turned the festive atmosphere into deep mourning for their families.

Casualties and Injuries

The victims of the horrific crash have been identified:

  • Deceased: Satyam Modanwal (20) and Nikhil Gupta (17) tragically lost their lives on the spot. Lucky Sonkar (19) later succumbed to his severe injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
  • Injured: Six others—Ansh Sonkar (17), Anmol Modanwal (18), Kishan Modanwal (20), Saksham Baranwal (17), Anurag Pandey, and Shagun (alias Kaustubh Pandey)—sustained critical injuries. They are currently receiving intensive medical care under strict medical supervision.

Swift Police Response

Upon receiving the distressing news, CO Kiran Pal Singh and the Phulpur police team immediately rushed to the scene. They launched a rapid rescue operation, rushing the injured to the hospital via ambulance. The police have taken custody of the deceased’s bodies for post-mortem and have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
