Early Tuesday morning, a heartbreaking road accident in the Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh cast a pall of gloom over the region. A speeding Swift car suddenly lost control, crashed into a roadside tree, and overturned near Jagdishpur village under the Phulpur Kotwali jurisdiction. The horrific crash claimed the lives of three promising youths, while six others sustained severe injuries. Following the accident, all the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing intensive medical treatment.
According to information provided by Phulpur Circle Officer Kiran Pal Singh, a total of nine youths were traveling in the Punjab-registered car, heading from Phulpur towards Sarai Mir. It is reported that the young men had installed a Lord Ganesha idol in their locality and had stayed awake all night participating in the festivities at the pandal. At around 4:30 AM on Tuesday, while they were on their way back, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Jagdishpur due to excessive speed. The car careened off the road, collided violently with a tree, and flipped over. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled, triggering immediate chaos and cries for help at the scene. As news of the heart-wrenching incident reached their families, a wave of devastation swept through their homes.
The youths who lost their lives and those injured in the tragic mishap have been identified. According to the police administration, 20-year-old Satyam Modanwal and 17-year-old Nikhil Gupta died a painful death on the spot. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Lucky Sonkar succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The six injured victims have been identified as 17-year-old Ansh Sonkar, 18-year-old Anmol Modanwal, 20-year-old Kishan Modanwal, 17-year-old Saksham Baranwal, along with Anurag Pandey and Shagun alias Kaustubh Pandey. All the injured are currently receiving medical care under the strict supervision of doctors.
The tragic news immediately spurred the local police into action. Circle Officer Kiran Pal Singh, accompanied by the local Phulpur police station team, promptly arrived at the site to initiate rescue and relief operations. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a detailed inspection of the accident spot, took custody of the deceased’s bodies, and sent them for post-mortem procedures. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to determine if there were any other contributing factors to the crash. This unfortunate incident has sent a deep wave of mourning throughout the village and the surrounding areas.
