Mumbai Police Takes Major Action Against Actor Imran Khan: Ultimatum to Leave India by October 28 Over Visa Violations

Mumbai Police has taken a firm administrative step by issuing an official notice to actor Imran Khan—nephew of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan—ordering him to leave India. According to the notice, the actor has been given a strict deadline to exit the country by October 28. This development has created a major stir in both Bollywood circles and political spheres.

The entire controversy stems from a public and political protest held at Mumbai’s historic August Kranti Maidan. Recently, the organization ‘Citizens for Justice and Peace’ (CJP) organized a demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. As the situation grew tense during the protest, Mumbai Police stepped in to maintain law and order, detaining several protesters including actor Imran Khan as a precautionary measure.

Following the initial detention and questioning, the matter has escalated into a serious administrative and legal issue. The primary reason behind the strict police action is cited as the actor’s citizenship status and violations of visa regulations. Official sources note that Imran Khan does not hold Indian citizenship, and as a foreign national, he does not have the legal right to directly participate in any political, policy-related, or public protests in the country.

Under the rules of the Immigration Act and Foreigners Act, foreign nationals residing in India are strictly prohibited from engaging in political activities, with severe legal provisions applied for non-compliance. Citing these strict regulations, Mumbai Police and the relevant immigration authorities issued a joint ultimatum giving the actor until October 28 to leave India.
