A devastating road accident in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning has once again highlighted the fatal consequences of reckless driving. An unidentified speeding vehicle violently rammed into a young motorcycle rider on the highway under the jurisdiction of the Maharajpur police station, resulting in his tragic death on the spot.
Horrific Collision on the Highway
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Altaf, son of Imamuddin, originally a resident of Lahourpur. For the past several months, Altaf had been residing in the town of Sarsaul, working as a mechanic at an agency located in Ruma. Following his daily routine, he left for work on his motorcycle at approximately 8:00 AM on Wednesday. As soon as he entered the highway, a speeding and uncontrolled vehicle struck his bike from behind. The impact of the collision was so severe that Altaf was thrown into the air before crashing onto the road, while his motorcycle was dragged for nearly ten meters along the asphalt. He sustained critical head injuries and bled profusely at the scene.
Medical Response and Devastated Family
Horrified bystanders immediately alerted the authorities. A police team from the Maharajpur station rushed to the scene without delay and transported the critically injured youth to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Sarsaul. Tragically, the attending physicians declared him dead upon arrival following a preliminary examination. The sudden and heartbreaking news of Altaf’s untimely demise has plunged his family into profound grief, leaving them entirely inconsolable over the loss of their young son.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Providing an official update on the incident, Maharajpur Station House Officer (SHO) Janardan Singh stated that the police have taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The immediate priority of the administration is to identify and apprehend the driver of the unknown vehicle. To achieve this, investigating officers are meticulously scanning CCTV footage from the highway and surrounding areas. The police have clarified that a formal case will be registered under relevant sections of the law once a written complaint is received from the victim’s grieving family. Multiple special teams have been deployed to actively hunt down the absconding vehicle.
