Delhi Metro Station Closures: CJP’s Saurav Das Says Protesters Will Still Reach Jantar Mantar

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das has reacted to the closure of entry and exit gates at 12 Delhi Metro stations, saying restrictions will not stop protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi Metro station closures came amid heightened security arrangements around Jantar Mantar, where a protest has been announced over demands linked to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suspended entry and exit at several stations until further notice, while interchange facilities remain available at select stations.

Saurav Das Reacts to Delhi Metro Closures

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das criticised the restrictions in a post on X.

“How many metro stations will you shut down? People will come walking, and they’ll come running too,” Das said.

In another post, Das targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and wrote that his “end” would mark the end of what Das described as a “tyrannical regime.” These statements represent Das and CJP’s political position.

12 Delhi Metro Stations Affected

The DMRC has closed entry and exit facilities at 12 stations as part of security measures around Jantar Mantar.

The affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi, according to the report. Interchange facilities remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi, Barakhamba and Central Secretariat.

Security Tightened Around Jantar Mantar

Police and Rapid Action Force personnel have been deployed around Jantar Mantar, along with a riot-control vehicle. Barricades have also been placed on roads leading to the protest area.

New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma said Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was in force in the New Delhi area. He said protests, demonstrations, marches and similar activities were not permitted under the restrictions.

Police have advised people not to travel to the area for demonstrations and asked the public to cooperate with the authorities.

CJP Announces Nationwide Protest

The CJP has announced a nationwide protest beginning in Mumbai on Friday. The party is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to the party, the protest will begin at Shivaji Park before being taken to other parts of the country. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das has said the demonstrations are linked to the party’s allegations that the electoral process and voting rights are being undermined. These are allegations made by the party and have not been independently established in the report.
