Divya Mittal, a 2013-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has officially concluded her bureaucratic career. The Central Ministry of Personnel has formally accepted her resignation and issued a notification regarding the same. Her departure from the prestigious civil service will be considered effectively in place starting Tuesday, September 15.
The seasoned officer had formally submitted her resignation on August 30. In her statement, she cited personal reasons, a need to focus on family priorities, and a desire to pursue new goals in life as the primary motivations behind her voluntary exit. Following standard administrative protocol, the Uttar Pradesh state government forwarded her resignation request to the central government’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which has now given its final seal of approval. Mittal had also taken to her social media platforms, specifically Facebook and X, to share the news of her resignation directly with the public.
Her sudden departure has sparked widespread discussions and speculation within administrative and political circles. Observers and insiders suggest that Mittal had been visibly uncomfortable and dissatisfied since May 2026, when she was abruptly removed from the highly visible and significant post of District Magistrate (DM) in Deoria. Following that transfer, she was reassigned to a comparatively lower-profile position as a Special Secretary in the state’s Revenue Department, a move that is widely believed to have catalyzed her decision to step down.
