UP Cabinet Hikes Paddy MSP, Approves Rs 647 Crore Scholarships, and New Expressway

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved multiple major decisions during its recent meeting. Among the top announcements, the cabinet cleared a significant Minimum Support Price (MSP) hike for paddy, sanctioned Rs 647 crore in scholarships for students, and greenlit a new expressway project to boost regional connectivity and economic development.

The MSP hike for paddy aims to benefit thousands of farmers across the state during the current Kharif marketing season. With this increase, the state government wants to ensure that paddy growers receive fair compensation for their crops, helping reduce distress sales and supporting income stability for farmers. Agriculture department officials welcomed the decision and emphasized its positive impact on rural livelihoods.

In the education sector, the cabinet approved Rs 647 crore for student scholarships across various categories, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and general category students from economically weaker sections. The scholarship program intends to reduce school dropout rates and encourage higher education among disadvantaged groups. Officials confirmed that the funds will be disbursed directly into students’ bank accounts through a transparent digital process.

Another major move includes the clearance of a new expressway project, which aims to enhance regional connectivity and attract private investment into the state. The project will likely reduce travel time between key districts and provide better logistics for industries, thereby accelerating economic growth.

These decisions reflect the state government’s balanced approach, focusing on farm welfarestudent support, and infrastructure development. Ministers also noted that the cabinet will continue to prioritize policies that directly improve the quality of life for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
