In her latest post, the legendary actress revealed that she once failed to recognize renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee — and her honest recounting of the moment is winning hearts.
Dressed in a striking red Sabyasachi top from a Vogue cover shoot, Zeenat used the outfit as the perfect segue to revisit a light-hearted memory from November 2022.
She wrote, “I pulled out this red top to wear for a casual shoot on my apartment terrace, and it reminded me of a story you may enjoy…”
The anecdote unfolds during a birthday celebration for her son Zan, held at the Sea Lounge of Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace. After tea, while the others had gone ahead to window shop, Zeenat and her friend Cara were heading toward the elevator.
“As we approached the elevator, we saw the doors closing — just then, an elegant hand reached out and held it open for us. Inside stood two impeccably dressed men. One of them, an Indian man with a beard, politely said he was a big fan and that I had inspired him since his childhood.”
Zeenat thanked him for his kind words, and he explained he was a designer. As they exited the elevator, she casually asked, “What is your name?”
With a smile, he replied, “Sabyasachi.” Zeenat admitted she was embarrassed and immediately apologized for not recognizing the iconic designer.
