Dhoni Praises Kohli: Calls Him a Passionate Dancer, Singer, and Entertainer

Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni recently showered praise on his long-time teammate Virat Kohli, highlighting not only his cricketing prowess but also his vibrant personality. Speaking at an event, Dhoni described Kohli as an avid dancer, singer, and mimicry artist, noting that he is “extremely entertaining” when in the mood. Dhoni, who played a pivotal role in shaping Kohli’s early international career, emphasized the former captain’s multifaceted talents beyond the cricket field.

Kohli made his international debut in 2008 under Dhoni’s captaincy, when the latter was already an established leader known for his calm and strategic approach. Dhoni’s composed leadership provided the perfect environment for Kohli to evolve into an aggressive and dynamic cricketer. Their partnership was a blend of Dhoni’s cool-headed wicketkeeping and tactical acumen with Kohli’s fiery batting and intensity. Dhoni stepped down from Test captaincy in 2014 and relinquished ODI and T20I leadership in 2016-17, paving the way for Kohli to take over as captain across all formats.

Reflecting on their time together, Dhoni said, “Virat is a great singer and dancer. He’s also brilliant at mimicry. When he’s in the mood, he’s incredibly entertaining.” Kohli, in turn, has often credited Dhoni for his unwavering support, especially during tough phases when he faced form slumps or criticism. In past interviews, Kohli has said, “He will always be my captain,” acknowledging the mentorship and guidance Dhoni provided during his formative years.

The camaraderie between the two cricketing giants, who together led India to numerous victories, including the 2011 ODI World Cup, continues to resonate with fans. Their mutual respect underscores a remarkable chapter in Indian cricket history.
