Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to blow the election bugle in Bihar today, October 24, 2025, marking the official start of his high-octane campaign for the upcoming assembly polls. Amid intensifying pre-election buzz, Modi will address two major public rallies, rallying support for NDA candidates while delivering sharp messages to the opposition.
Homage to Karpoori Thakur Before Campaign Kickoff
Kicking off the day, PM Modi will visit Karpuri Gram in Samastipur district at 11:00 AM to pay floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, the late socialist leader and former Bihar Chief Minister. Thakur, posthumously awarded India’s highest civilian honor last year by the NDA government, is revered for his pioneering work on social justice and reservations for backward classes. This symbolic gesture underscores the NDA’s emphasis on honoring Bihar’s backward caste icons as part of its poll strategy.
Following the tribute, Modi will launch his campaign with back-to-back rallies:
- Samastipur: 12:15 PM – A key seat held by RJD’s Akhtarul Iman since 2010, where NDA aims to challenge the opposition’s dominance.
- Begusarai: 2:00 PM – Known as Bihar’s “industrial capital,” this constituency is a battleground with historical significance, birthplace of poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
During these events, the Prime Minister is expected to urge voters to back NDA allies, including BJP and JD(U), while critiquing the opposition’s track record.
Slams Opposition ‘Lathbandhan’ in Virtual Address
Building momentum ahead of today’s rallies, PM Modi on Thursday engaged with young BJP workers via the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ virtual program. In a fiery speech, he dubbed the opposition alliance a “Lathbandhan” (stick alliance), accusing it of prioritizing self-interest over Bihar’s youth. He alleged that these parties, often labeled as such by the public, excel only at infighting and wielding “sticks” metaphorically, with no genuine concern for development.
Modi highlighted the NDA’s transformative role in rescuing Bihar from “jungle raj” darkness, pointing to decades of Naxal and Maoist violence that stifled progress. “Maoist terror prevented schools, colleges, and hospitals from opening – they even destroyed existing ones and blocked industries,” he said, crediting NDA efforts since 2014 for steady recovery and growth.
Second Visit on October 30: Muzaffarpur and Chhapra in Focus
PM Modi’s Bihar itinerary doesn’t end today. He is slated for a second visit on October 30, addressing rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra to further energize the NDA base. Overall, he plans at least a dozen events across the state by month’s end, aligning with the two-phase polling on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14.
The NDA, led by CM Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and BJP, faces a tough contest from the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. With Bihar’s 243 seats at stake, Modi’s campaign is pivotal in consolidating votes among backward classes, youth, and urban voters.
