Manu Bhaker Just Misses Medal, Places Fourth in 25m Pistol at Asian Shooting Championship

Shymkent, August 25, 2025: Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker narrowly missed the podium in the women’s 25m pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championship, finishing fourth in a highly competitive eight-woman final.

Bhaker Just Misses Medal

Bhaker shot 25 points in the final, falling four short of Vietnam’s bronze medallist Thu Vinh Trinh, who scored 29. India’s Esha Singh, Bhaker’s compatriot, ended sixth with 18 points, rounding off a strong performance by the Indian contingent.

Chinese Duo Clinch Gold and Silver

Chinese shooters Yueyue Zhang and Jiaruixuan Xiao dominated the event, with Zhang edging Xiao 4-3 in a tense shoot-off after both shooters were tied at 39 points. Their performance highlighted China’s continued dominance in Asian shooting competitions.

Indian Team Secures Bronze

Despite Bhaker missing out on an individual medal, the Indian trio — Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Simranpreet Kaur Brar — claimed the team bronze with an aggregate score of 1749 points, finishing behind China and South Korea. The podium finish showcased India’s growing strength in women’s shooting.

Strong Qualification Performances

In the qualification round, Esha Singh topped the field in the women’s 25m pistol event, finishing ahead of Bhaker and both Chinese medallists. Bhaker secured fourth place after the precision stage, continuing her consistent performance throughout the tournament.

Bhaker’s Stellar Tournament So Far

Bhaker has already won bronze medals in both the women’s 10m air pistol individual and team events, making her one of India’s most successful shooters at this championship. The fourth-place finish in the 25m pistol adds to her remarkable run at Shymkent.
