Fake Document Scam: 22 Government Teachers Dismissed in Uttar Pradesh After 9 Years

UP Govt Sacks 22 Teachers Over Fake Degrees, Orders FIR and Salary Recovery

Lucknow:
In a sweeping action against academic fraud, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Department has dismissed 22 government teachers from the Azamgarh division after it was found that they had secured their jobs using forged marksheets and certificates. The department has also ordered recovery of their salaries and directed that FIRs be filed against them.

Recruitment Scam Traced Back to 2014

The controversy originated in 2014, when advertisements were issued for the recruitment of assistant teachers (Licentiate Teacher Grade). After due formalities, appointments were made in 2016. Since the process was merit-based, some aspirants allegedly boosted their scores using forged documents. Multiple verifications later revealed the fraud.

22 Teachers Named

The dismissed teachers include: Vinay Kumar Yadav, Nutan Singh, Atul Prakash Verma, Pawan Kumar, Ankit Verma, Laxmi Devi, Rohini Sharma, Vivek Singh, Raj Rajat Verma, Amit Giri, Ruchi Singhal, Priyanka, Deepa Singh, Anita Rani, Preeti Singh, Nandini, Anand Soni, Geeta, Saloni Arora, Kiran Maurya, Ruman Vishwakarma, and Sarita Maurya.

Final Verdict by Committee

The decision followed an inquiry by a committee headed by the Joint Director of the Azamgarh division, which confirmed the certificates were fabricated.
“As a result, their services have been terminated, and instructions have been issued to recover salaries and lodge FIRs,” said Dr Mahendra Dev, Director of Secondary Education. He also raised concerns about why it took nearly a decade to uncover the fraud.

Fake Degrees from Suspect Universities

Officials said the forged marksheets were allegedly linked to Monard University (Hapur) and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (Varanasi), both of which have previously faced scrutiny over fake degree rackets.
