Yogi Government Expands Ganna Farmer Relief Scheme in Uttar Pradesh

The ganna farmer relief scheme gains new momentum in Uttar Pradesh as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announces another major benefit for cane farmers. The government increased sugarcane prices by ₹30 per quintal for the 2025–26 crushing season. Now the state removes all loading and unloading charges at purchase centers. Farmers call this a direct boost to their income. The move comes even as the 2027 Assembly election remains far away.

Crushing Starts Across Sugar Mills

Sugar mills begin the 2025–26 crushing operations across the state. Farmers send fresh cane to mills in large volumes. Complaints rise at many mill gates and procurement centers. Farmers report illegal deductions, under-weighing, and extra loading fees.

Sugarcane Commissioner Mini S. issues strict instructions. She directs all Deputy Cane Commissioners, District Cane Officers, Assistant Sugar Commissioners, and mill General Managers to stop these practices. She says the team must ensure zero complaints at cane centers. She orders a full ban on loading and unloading charges. Officials will launch surprise checks at all purchase points. Any worker, transporter, or mill staff who takes illegal payment will face strict action under the UP Sugarcane (Supply and Purchase Regulation) Rules.

Government Focuses on Accountability

The commissioner orders teams to track cane diversion attempts. She asks officers to identify responsible clerks, mill managers, or transporters in every confirmed complaint. She wants clear accountability so farmers stay protected throughout the season.

Sugar Industry Stronger Under Yogi Government

The Yogi government strengthens the sugar sector in the past eight years. It sets up four new sugar mills. It revives six closed mills. It expands capacity in 42 mills. This growth equals the output of eight new large mills. Two mills also house CBG plants now. These plants boost clean-energy production in cane-growing regions.
