CISF Heroes Prevent Major Pakistan-Backed Strike on Uri Hydro Plant: The Story of the ’19 Bahadur’

A massive terror tragedy was averted in Jammu & Kashmir after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) neutralised a Pakistan-backed militant plan targeting the Uri hydroelectric power project. The operation, now being hailed as the victory of the “19 Bahadur” — the CISF personnel at the site — showcased exceptional bravery, coordination, and quick action under pressure.

The incident unfolded when heavily armed militants attempted to infiltrate the hydro plant area during pre-dawn hours. Intelligence inputs had earlier warned of possible attempts by Pakistan-supported groups to disrupt critical infrastructure in the region. The goal of the attackers was clear: trigger large-scale damage, threaten the power grid, and create panic across Jammu & Kashmir.

However, the CISF unit deployed at the facility had been maintaining heightened alertness. As soon as suspicious movement was detected near the perimeter, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) moved in swiftly. The militants opened fire, hoping to break through the security layers, but the CISF personnel responded with tactical precision.

Within minutes, the attackers were pinned down and prevented from advancing further. A coordinated counter-assault forced the militants to retreat, abandoning their attempt entirely. No damage to the hydro plant or civilian area was reported — a testament to the disciplined and rapid response by the CISF team.

Senior officials praised the personnel, noting that their preparedness and professionalism prevented a catastrophic event. Security agencies believe the attack was an attempt to replicate high-impact strikes similar to those seen in the past, including the 2016 Uri attack. This time, however, the outcome was starkly different — the attackers failed to breach even the first line of defence.

The incident highlights the critical role of CISF in safeguarding India’s vital installations. As investigations continue, intelligence agencies are tracking the group involved and assessing cross-border links.

The nation is applauding the courage of the “19 Bahadur,” whose decisive actions shielded the region from what could have been a major terror disaster.
