The threats arrived via emails purportedly from the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group, warning of explosives planted in the premises. Saket, Dwarka, Patiala House, and Rohini courts received the alerts early morning, leading to immediate suspension of proceedings and mass exits of judges, lawyers, and staff. The CRPF schools in Dwarka and Prashant Vihar—near the site of last week’s Red Fort blast—also got similar emails around 9 AM, evacuating students and triggering bomb squad inspections.
Massive Security Response: Evacuations and Searches Underway
Police, fire services, bomb disposal squads, and dog units rushed to all sites, cordoning off areas and conducting thorough scans. Patiala House Court saw heightened security as NIA’s second arrest in the Red Fort probe, Jasir Bilal Wani, was scheduled for production there. Saket Court Bar Association Secretary Anil Basoya issued a notice: “Court work suspended for the next 2 hours due to security issues. Proceedings resume after lunch once cleared. Stay calm, cooperate, and avoid crowding.” Officials confirmed no suspicious items found so far, but investigations continue to trace the emails’ origin—potentially a hoax amid the recent blast that killed 13 and injured dozens. Extra police deployments now guard all judicial complexes and schools.
Not the First: Recurring Threats Expose Security Gaps
This marks the latest in a string of hoax threats plaguing Delhi’s institutions. In September 2025, the Delhi High Court received a similar email, forcing abrupt evacuations. Last week, an Air India flight from Toronto to Delhi faced a mid-air bomb threat, landing safely. These incidents, days after the November 10 Red Fort explosion linked to a Faridabad terror module, have amplified fears of coordinated intimidation. Authorities urge vigilance, with the Enforcement Directorate raiding 25 Delhi-NCR sites tied to the blast probe.
