A chilling act of vengeance has gripped Lucknow’s Dubagga area, where a 20-year-old youth was brutally murdered, his mutilated body discovered on a railway track near his village late Saturday night. The family has leveled grave accusations against the perpetrator—a man recently released on bail in a rape case involving the victim’s minor sister—and his accomplices, claiming the killing was retaliation for refusing to withdraw the original complaint. The incident has exposed glaring lapses in witness protection and police responsiveness, leaving the bereaved family in fear and demanding swift justice.
The backstory traces back to August 2024, when the young man’s underage sister fell victim to a sexual assault by a local named Alok. An FIR was promptly filed, leading to Alok’s arrest and imprisonment. However, in December 2024, he secured bail and wasted no time in harassing the family, repeatedly pressuring them to quash the case. Relatives allege that Alok and his associates issued threats over several days, even lodging verbal complaints with local police, who allegedly failed to act despite the escalating danger.
A Night of Terror: The Murder Unfolds
The tragedy struck Saturday evening when the 20-year-old left home alone. By around 8:30 PM, his severely battered body was found on the nearby railway line, sparking initial suspicions of a train accident. But the family insists it was no mishap: the location was one the victim never frequented, suggesting his corpse was deliberately dumped there to stage a cover-up. Adding to the suspicions, police recovered the young man’s shoes about a kilometer from the scene the next morning, further undermining the accident narrative.
In a heart-wrenching account, family members recounted Alok’s persistent intimidation tactics post-release, including direct warnings that went unheeded by authorities. “He threatened us daily to drop the charges, and we informed the station multiple times, but nothing was done,” one relative shared, their voice trembling with grief and fury. The assault’s ferocity points to a premeditated attack, turning a routine evening outing into a fatal trap.
Police Response: FIR Filed, Probe Underway Amid Doubts
Inspector Abhinav Kumar of Dubagga police station confirmed that an FIR for murder has been registered against Alok and three unidentified aides based on the family’s written complaint. The postmortem report revealed the cause of death as “shock and hemorrhage,” consistent with a violent beating rather than a rail collision. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vishwajeet Srivastava acknowledged the initial report suggested a train mishap but emphasized that the family’s murder claims are being thoroughly investigated. “We’re exploring all angles, including forensic evidence from the site and witness statements,” he assured, adding that teams are scouring CCTV footage and call records to trace the accused.
As the investigation intensifies, the case has ignited outrage over systemic failures in protecting vulnerable families after high-profile crimes. With Alok still at large, the victim’s kin live in terror, pleading for immediate arrests and enhanced security. This gruesome revenge killing serves as a stark reminder of the perils faced by those daring to seek justice in the face of powerful backlash.
