Bihar Election Results 2025: AIMIM Surges with Leads in 6 Seemanchal Seats, Jailed Anant Singh Clinches Mokama Victory

As vote counting progresses on November 14, 2025, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, has emerged as a surprise contender in Bihar’s Assembly elections, securing leads in six key seats concentrated in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region. This marks a potential breakthrough for the party, which contested 18 seats and could disrupt traditional vote shares between NDA and Mahagathbandhan. Meanwhile, incarcerated JD(U) strongman Anant Kumar Singh, alias “Chote Sarkar,” has won the high-profile Mokama seat by a commanding 28,206 votes, reinforcing his grip despite murder charges.

The NDA leads statewide with over 210 seats (BJP 95, JD(U) 85, allies 30+), while Mahagathbandhan trails at 39. AIMIM’s gains highlight shifting minority dynamics in Kishanganj, Purnia, and Araria districts, where it led in 2020 bypolls but faced reversals elsewhere.

AIMIM’s Seemanchal Breakthrough: Leads in Six Seats

Per ECI data at 3:30 p.m., AIMIM holds comfortable margins in these constituencies, flipping or consolidating Muslim-Yadav vote banks. Early trends show the party ahead after 12–23 rounds, with RJD and JD(U) as main challengers.

These leads, if converted to wins, would give AIMIM its best-ever Bihar haul, up from four in 2020 bypolls. Owaisi hailed it as a “voice for marginalized Muslims,” amid opposition claims of vote splitting.

Anant Singh’s Jailhouse Triumph in Mokama

In Patna’s volatile Mokama (64% turnout on November 6), Singh polled 91,416 votes after 26 rounds, crushing RJD’s Veena Devi (63,210 votes) in a Bhumihar-Yadav clash. Jan Suraaj’s Priyadarshi Piyush got 19,365. Arrested November 2 for murdering a Jan Suraaj supporter, Singh’s lead grew from 2,716 votes in round one to 28,206 final—his sixth win here since 2005, despite 28 criminal cases and a 2022 UAPA conviction. Supporters outside Beur Jail celebrated with chants and a 56-bhog feast, calling for his release.

This JD(U) victory bolsters NDA’s rural hold, with the alliance eyeing 210+ seats. Opposition alleges SIR “manipulation,” but NDA celebrates a “sushasan” mandate. Full results by evening on results.eci.gov.in.
