Massive Explosion at Firecracker Factory in UP’s Barabanki Kills 2, Injures 5

A powerful blast at a firecracker factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district claimed two lives and left five people with serious injuries on Thursday. The explosion rocked the area, with the sound echoing kilometers away and causing widespread panic among locals.

The incident unfolded in the afternoon during routine operations at the factory in Sarai Barai village. Officials believe lapses in fire safety protocols triggered the blast.

Chaos and Quick Response

Local residents heard the deafening boom and rushed to the scene. They helped pull out the injured amid rising flames and thick smoke. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before gaining control.

Survivors received initial treatment at a nearby hospital. As their conditions deteriorated, doctors shifted them to Lucknow’s Trauma Centre for advanced care.

Among the injured are the factory owner, Khalid, and his brother. Both hold a valid license for firecracker production, valid until March this year, but early probes suggest safety violations played a key role.

Official Probe Underway

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anurag Singh confirmed the toll. “We have two confirmed deaths. Our initial findings point to operational negligence at the factory,” he stated.

Police have sealed off the site and are sifting through the wreckage to pinpoint the cause. District officials are reviewing if the unit followed required safety guidelines.

The administration vows tough penalties for any guilty parties. It has also urged all local firecracker makers to follow strict safety rules to avoid future tragedies.
