Longtime Infiltration Facilitator Neutralized by Security Forces
In a significant blow to cross-border terrorism, security forces eliminated Bagu Khan — one of the most elusive infiltration facilitators — during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez sector on Saturday.
Known as the “Human GPS” for his intimate knowledge of LoC terrain, Khan had been on the radar of Indian forces for decades.
Over 100 Infiltration Attempts Aided Since 1995
Bagu Khan, also referred to as Samandar Chacha, operated from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir since 1995. He played a central role in over 100 infiltration operations into Indian territory.
What set Khan apart was his ability to navigate the Gurez sector’s unforgiving terrain. His routes were often undetectable, making him a prized asset for multiple terror outfits — not just Hizbul Mujahideen, but others operating in the region as well.
Operation Naushera Nar IV Ends His Run
His long run came to an end during Operation Naushera Nar IV, when alert Indian troops intercepted a group of infiltrators near Nowshera Naar.
A brief but intense exchange of fire followed. Bagu Khan and one other terrorist were gunned down.
A Strategic Win for Indian Forces
Security officials have called Khan’s death a major tactical victory. He was considered the backbone of infiltration planning in the Gurez region.
“Eliminating someone like Bagu Khan deals a serious blow to the logistical support structure that fuels cross-border terrorism,” a senior official said.
Second Foiled Infiltration in 48 Hours
This encounter came just two days after the Army foiled another infiltration attempt in the same region. Two more terrorists were killed in that operation, further tightening the security grip along the Line of Control.
