On Friday morning, a horrific road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh claimed the life of Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Additional City Magistrate (ACM) posted in Agra. The incident occurred near milestone 77 in Mainpuri’s Karhal area when Jaiswal’s Creta car collided with an unidentified vehicle. His driver, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, was severely injured and admitted to Saifai Medical College.
According to reports, Jaiswal was returning to Agra from Lucknow when his car, upon reaching the 77-kilometer mark, lost control and crashed into an unknown vehicle. The collision was so severe that the car was badly damaged. Upon receiving the news, UPEDA and local police rushed to the scene, and both victims were immediately taken to Saifai Medical College. Doctors declared Jaiswal dead, while Pankaj remains in critical condition, undergoing treatment.
The news of the accident sent shockwaves through Agra’s administrative circles. In-charge Tehsildar Santosh Rajouria and Inspector-in-Charge Maharaj Singh Bhati promptly reached Saifai hospital, and several senior officials from Agra headed to Mainpuri. Jaiswal had previously served as SDM in Kirawali and was currently handling responsibilities as ACM at Agra Collectorate. His untimely death has deeply saddened the administration.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest high speed or the driver dozing off as possible factors, but the exact cause will be determined after a thorough probe.
