Filmmaker Nikhil Bhat, who made waves with his 2023 action thriller Kill, is now stepping into the global arena. After impressing audiences and critics alike with his hard-hitting action sequences in Kill, produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, Bhat is now set to make his Hollywood debut with a massive action film in collaboration with Universal Studios.
According to exclusive information, Nikhil has been in discussions with Universal for some time now, and the deal is finally confirmed. The film is currently in the scripting phase and is being described as a high-octane global action spectacle, mounted on an enormous budget — the biggest of Bhat’s career so far.
Sources close to the development shared that the director initially planned a grounded action drama, but during the writing process, the story naturally evolved into a full-scale international project. “This script demands global Hollywood stars, and discussions for the casting are already underway at Universal Studios,” the insider revealed. “It’s one of those rare scripts that requires a star-studded global cast, and the final names will surprise audiences in India.”
While the film is expected to go on floors in 2026, the timeline will be finalized once the casting process is completed. Meanwhile, Nikhil is also gearing up for his next Indian project with producer Murad Khetani, which is currently in the pre-production stage. The two have previously collaborated on the film Apurva.
With this Universal Studios venture, Nikhil Bhat is set to cement his place on the global stage and take Indian filmmaking talent into international territories like never before.
