Bulandshahr, UP: A tragic accident occurred on National Highway 34 near Ghatal Village in Bulandshahr when a container collided with a tractor carrying devotees of Gogaji heading from Kasganj, UP, to Rajasthan’s Gogamedi. The collision claimed 8 lives and left 45 others injured, including 12 children.
Immediate Response by Police and Officials
Police teams, including the District Magistrate and SSP, rushed to the site soon after receiving information. The injured were admitted to Aligarh Medical College, Bulandshahr District Hospital, and Kailash Hospital. Three of the injured are in critical condition and on ventilator support.
Arnia police and nearby station forces reached the spot immediately and noted that the tractor-trolley had been converted into a double-decker to accommodate more people, which likely contributed to the severity of the accident.
Container Confiscated, Vehicles Impounded
The container involved in the collision has been impounded by the police. The tractor has also been removed from the site.
Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh said, “Around 60-61 people were travelling in a tractor from Kasganj to Rajasthan. A high-speed container hit it from behind, overturning the tractor. Eight people have died, and 45 are under treatment. Three are on ventilator support. The truck that caused the accident is in police custody.”
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as:
- E U Babu (40) – Tractor driver
- Rambeti (65)
- Chandni (12)
- Ghaniram (40)
- Mokshi (40)
- Shivansh (6)
- Yogesh (50)
- Vinod (45)
All were residents of Kasganj district. Their bodies have been taken into custody for post-mortem examination.
CM Yogi Announces Ex-Gratia
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep anguish over the incident and announced financial compensation for the victims’ families.
- Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased
- Rs 50,000 for seriously injured individuals
The Chief Minister also directed local authorities to ensure prompt medical care for the injured and provide necessary assistance to the families affected.
