Jhansi Murder Case: Ex-Village Head Kills Lover, Dismembers Body Into Seven Pieces
The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested two men, including a former village head, in connection with the gruesome murder of a woman in Jhansi. The victim, Rachna Yadav (35), was allegedly killed by her lover, Mahewa Sanjay Patel (41), after she pressured him to marry her.
The Relationship & Motive
According to police, Patel and Yadav had been in a relationship for a couple of years. However, Yadav wanted Patel to formalize their relationship through marriage. Patel, already married with two children, refused. Investigators believe this tension led to the murder.
The Crime
On the night of August 9-10, Patel, along with his nephew Sandeep Patel (25) and associate Pradeep alias Deepak Ahirwar, lured Yadav into a car. Inside, they strangled her to death. The trio then used an axe to chop her body into seven pieces.
To destroy evidence and prevent identification, they scattered the body parts at multiple locations:
- Some pieces were dumped in a farm well.
- Her head and feet were thrown into the Raivan River.
Discovery & Arrests
On August 13, police recovered a mutilated body missing its head, hands, and legs in the Todi Fatehpur area. Investigations soon linked the crime to Patel and his accomplices.
- Patel and Sandeep were arrested.
- Pradeep remains absconding, and police have announced a ₹25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
Police Action
Senior Superintendent of Police BBGTS Murthy confirmed the recovery of all body parts. Appreciating the swift investigation, DIG Jhansi Range Keshav Chaudhary awarded a ₹50,000 cash prize to the police team.
The murder has left locals in shock, with residents horrified at the brutality of the killing and the attempt to erase the victim’s identity.
