‘Munna Bhai’ Act in UP Hospital: Fake Doctor Arrested

Fake Doctor Caught Treating Patients at UP’s Basti Hospital, Negligence Alleged After Patient’s Death

A shocking case of negligence has surfaced at the district hospital in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, where attendants caught a fake doctor moving around in the emergency ward posing as medical staff.

Eyewitnesses said the man, identified as Raj Kumar, entered the ward dressed like a doctor, wearing a mask and a stethoscope. Claiming to be a senior doctor, he began attending to patients, including those in critical condition. Suspicion grew when relatives of a seriously ill woman asked him to prescribe medicines. Instead, he replied he would “ask the warden,” raising doubts about his identity.

When confronted, attendants discovered he was an impostor. The public caught him and handed him over to the police. Investigations later revealed that Raj Kumar is a second-year OT technician student at Basti Medical College.

Negligence Allegations

The incident came to light after a man brought his wife to the hospital in a critical condition. The family alleged she remained untreated for nearly two hours and later died. During this period, the fake doctor was seen moving around the ward posing as staff.

However, District Hospital SIC Dr Khalid Rizwan denied negligence, stating the woman had arrived in a critical state.
“She had shortness of breath and her oxygen level was critically low. She was given proper treatment, but despite efforts, she passed away,” he said.

Police Action

Police confirmed that an FIR is being registered based on a written complaint, and the matter is under investigation.
