Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, War 2’s Hindi version has collected a total of Rs 73 crore net through Friday, showing steady but underwhelming numbers.
On its second day, War 2 (Hindi) recorded a reasonable 60 percent growth, adding Rs 45 crore net on the Independence Day holiday. This brings the two-day Hindi total to Rs 73 crore, keeping the film on track for a weekend collection of around Rs 130 crore net. While these figures aren’t spectacular, they are decent, with the weekday performance expected to be critical for the movie to surpass Rs 200 crore net in Hindi alone.
Impact of Language Versions and Regional Performance
The true Hindi day 2 collection is estimated to be closer to Rs 48 crore net. This lower-than-usual number partly stems from audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana preferring the Telugu version over the Hindi one, which impacts Hindi version collections in those states.
On opening day, the Telugu version contributed approximately Rs 20 crore net, boosted by Jr NTR’s strong fan base. However, collections for the dubbed Telugu version dipped on day 2 to around Rs 10 crore net, as anticipated. Across all languages, the two-day India net total for War 2 stands slightly above Rs 100 crore.
Distributor Concerns in Andhra States
The distributors who acquired War 2’s rights for the Andhra region (across all languages) are expected to face significant losses. Although some stability at lower levels is predicted over the weekend, the current collections fall short of recovering the high acquisition costs. This situation may force renegotiations to prevent substantial financial losses.
Projected Overall Box Office Performance
War 2’s India net collections are projected to finish between Rs 250 to 300 crore net across all languages, assuming weekday drops are moderate. Overseas collections are less encouraging; the film is estimated to have grossed about USD 7.5 million globally over the extended weekend, including premieres. To reach a total of USD 15 million worldwide, the film will need to maintain steady performance during the weekdays.
