Nearly 300 Opposition MPs, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, marched to the Election Commission office in Delhi on Monday, protesting alleged electoral malpractices and accusing the poll body of colluding with the BJP in what they dubbed “vote chori” (vote theft).
The protest saw tense moments as Delhi Police blocked the march midway, prompting several leaders, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, to scale police barricades. With the situation escalating, many MPs staged a sit-in protest on the road.
Police responded by detaining several Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. Amid the chaos, two Trinamool Congress MPs fainted during the protest. The dramatic scenes highlighted deepening tensions between the INDIA bloc and the Election Commission, with Opposition parties demanding accountability and electoral transparency.
