Mouni Roy and Naveen Kasturia’s ‘Salakaar’ Gets Mixed Reactions on Social Media

The spy-thriller series “Salakaar,” starring Mouni Roy and Naveen Kasturia, has premiered on the OTT platform JioHotstar and is receiving a mixed but generally positive response from viewers on social media. The five-episode series, directed by Faruk Kabir and written by Srinivas Abrol, follows a young Indian spy’s high-stakes covert mission.

Audience reactions on X (formerly Twitter) have been varied. Many users praised Mouni Roy’s performance as the spy “Mariam,” noting her versatility and strong presence in a new genre for her. One user wrote, “Mouni Roy as mariam slayed in the series. New genre for her but she was shining excellently.”

While the performances of the entire cast, which also includes Asrar Khan, Janhavi Hardas, and Mukesh Rishi, have been widely appreciated, the storyline itself has drawn some criticism. Viewers described the plot as “above average” but pointed out “inconsistencies” and “too many plot holes.” One user commented that while the acting was commendable and the ending was “satisfying,” the writing “could have been better.”

“Salakaar” is a JioHotstar original series, produced by Comall Sunjoy Waddhwa and Sunjoy Waddhwa, and is also available in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Bengali, and Kannada.
